Last week I got an email from my program advisor that gave me all kinds of updated information on my trip to Ghana, which made me even more excited.

As of this morning, I still had a gift card to Sports Chalet that my dad gave me for Christmas, and my mom was extremely generous and let me have hers also. So, loaded with $200 I braved the rain in my little rental car (my Toyota got recalled, but that's another story!) and headed out for some Africa shopping.

Since Ghana is a fairly conservative country, I had to find clothes that covered my chest and shoulders as well as pants that went past my knees. It is crazy how hard it is to find "conservative" clothes in Southern California! But today was totally my lucky day. Despite the rain, Sports Chalet was having a sidewalk sale and they had all kinds of Northface, Patagonia, Columbia clothes right there! That was only half the battle though, clothing shopping for me is never easy due to my height. But like I said, today was my lucky day. Every single thing fit me, and when I went to the register, it came out to $207. I only went over by $7! Success! Now I am loaded up with tons of light weight, waterproof, Africa gear. I am so excited :)
